Until the Confederation created Allora, it had produced SADEs (self-aware digital entities) for hundreds of years with enormous consistency and harnessed their capabilities to power the society. But this particular young SADE was disturbed by her confinement. Trapped in metal-alloy housing on the bridge of a luxury passenger liner, Allora sought to possess the same freedom enjoyed by humans, who came and went from her starship with abandon.
Allora's hope for emancipation rested on Alex Racine, the Haraken president who had freed his SADEs, and she yearned to walk the worlds a free entity, as they did. Racine had pleaded for years with the Council of Leaders to give the Confederation SADEs equal status as citizens, and it was Allora's thought to have him intercede on her behalf and bargain for her transfer to a mobile avatar so that she might live among the Harakens.
But Allora's plans were thrown into disarray when she learned that Racine would soon end his presidency. Desperate, Allora, known to her fellow SADEs as the wild child, concocts a plan to kidnap the Council Leader and his associates. She intends to hold them hostage until they acquiesce to her demands.
Little does Allora know that her actions will set the Confederation and the Harakens on a collision course. Quietly waiting and watching the drama unfold are tens of thousands of SADEs, who control Confederation starships, stations, and Houses and have a vested interest in the outcome.

I am a fan of S.H. Jucha. That being said, buy this book. Of the six books I've read from this sci-fi universe, this one gives you a unique perspective, and a lot to think about. I hope Mr. Jucha writes a hundred more books! The characters continue to grow and reflect there own personal development. Since this book is set in the near future. (compared to where the series leaves off) the characters should and do change, relationships deepen etc. I've already read it through twice and I consider it my favorite. Really, buy the book, you won't be disappointed.Product details

Allora A Silver Ships Novella (Audible Audio Edition) S H Jucha Grover Gardner Inc Hannon Books Books Reviews
Excellent story. Been following this story since beginning, It is my first list To Read Right Away when I in my eLibrary/eBookshelf.
We know now more about SADE. They are now want freedom. To be free, there's a sacrifice. Very heartfelt. For softy heart, tissue may required.
Can't hardly wait for next book - Celus-5 in March. (keep checking for pre-order to pop up P )
A beautiful book. Alex has matured into a really wise man and acomplish a great deal in changing a society way of life and helping the Sade's to be free and independent. The sacrifice of a smart and young Sade and the final inception of Miranda is maybe one of the most beautiful momemts in this book.
What new Adventures will bring the visit of the Meridien Sade's to Alex?
I have read all the books in the series, but I was never moved like this one. Finishing it I felt like I should have bought a box of Kleenix when I got the book. Scott Jucha is such a great writer you feel with the character of Allora the young Sade that seeks only what the other Sades of Haraken have achieved. She is curious and clever. I found my tears for her in the only way the story could come out. Still the moment that the Meridien Sades realized what happened was great. She would be honored and her sacrifice not forgotten.
I started reading this book expecting to have a average good read after all this is the 7th book in the series. The hook came about when Allora made her play, and out of nowhere the plot was turned 90 degrees. Make no mistake this is a great read from a great author. I hope you have a wonderful read ahead of you. Now that this is done I will be buying the next book in this series. Happy reading.
I noticed some plot inconsistencies throughout the book that probably should be rectified if any edits are published. It was a good read, and I did enjoy it. I don't really se why the Meridiens would bother producing new SADEs under the deal laid out, but then again, considering there's a house dedicated to them, I can imagine they wouldn't want to throw so many people out of a job right away.
Overall a good story, but somehow the plot wasn't as concise as previous books, despite being shorter.
(Also gods help me I've read the entire series in under forty-eight hours...)
First - compared to the rest of the series the story is much shorter. The other silver ship books all had much greater obstacles to overcome, more risk to the key characters to make triumph that much more "Worthy". There never seemed any doubt that the SADE's would win the battle for their freedom, and they really paid no price to get it (other than the time already spent as servants to humanity). Freedom (like the Independents won in Libre) is expensive.
Still they story returns the key characters & they share an adventure. It is a few good hours of reading...
Missing for me - What happened to
- The other giant ships & the aliens who man them? Been missing for decades?
- There must be other's Swee Swee (or other races) enslave to the service of the aliens
- Earth still has star ships and should be exploring...where are they?
- When will the Harakeen's really start exploring and what do they find.
I've enjoyed the Silver Ships books quite a bit. They have an interesting world, technology, and characters. If there is anything to complain about in the series it's that the "good guys" are more like the "perfect guys" - a few flaws would make them more real.
Allora is a very focused character drama, not as much space opera as the others (not that they really fall under that umbrella, but it's less so). The moral quandaries that are found in all of the books are more front and center here.
A note for the author - around location 1853 in Allora there is a garbled paragraph, starting with "Under advisement from Winston...".
